Animal Emergency Issues and Programs in Illinois

Gene Field has been employed in the field of emergency management/homeland security for the past twenty-eight years. Throughout his career, he has developed, facilitated or assisted in the conduct of numerous disaster exercises. Many of those exercises involved the threat from weapons of mass destruction, including the agroterrorism threat. In 2002, he was a member of the planning team for the TOPOFF 2 Exercise held in Chicago and Seattle.

For the past seven years, he has also provided emergency preparedness and homeland security assistance to the Illinois Department of Agriculture. He is currently a member of the Departments' Homeland Security Working Group. He also provides contractor support to a number of emergency preparedness exercises, planning and training initiatives on behalf of the Illinois Veterinary Emergency Response Team (IVERT).

Mr. Field holds a BS from the University of Saint Francis. He resides on a farm near Girard in Macoupin County IL. Mr. Field is the married father of four children. He also has three grandchildren.
