SPOT - School Preparedness Outreach Team
the focus of this presentation is how communities can use volunteer programs to work together with local, state, and federal agencies to develop a program to introduce emergency preparedness into the local school systems for K-12. In Douglas County, the Emergency Management Agency, Medical Reserve Core, Community Response Team, and Search and Rescue Team are working on the SPOT committee with local representatives from school districts to develop this program. This committee will focus on two components - an education outreach program for the administrative staff, teachers, and students and the establishment of lockdown kits in each classroom. This presentation will provide an overview of the SPOT process and how agencies/communities can incorporate SPOT into the education process.
